School Transition Programming

We help parents plan ahead for the transition to school.

Our School Transition Programming includes:

  • Development of a comprehensive profile that includes developmental and functional assessment information, including identifying language, social and academic skills needed to support successful school entry. Also included are agreements regarding Missing Links support services for the child and the transitioning school.
  • Outreach to relevant community stakeholders, including the principal and school board personnel, to collaborate on a blueprint which:
    • identifies the skills the child will need to be taught and reinforced
    • discusses the range of appropriate programs, resources and services that the child is currently using and as well as those that may be available in the new environment
    • plans for the child’s successful transition.
  • We also provide opportunities for community and school personnel to observe and discuss the child’s Intensive Behavioral Intervention program – either in person or on video – to become familiar with the techniques used and the child’s responses.
